From a young age, I immersed myself in areas I was passionate about, especially in hands-on skills developed through woodshop and auto shop classes. In high school, I furthered my interest in business by enrolling in Regional Occupational Programs (ROP) for Business Management and Entrepreneurship. This experience equipped me with foundational knowledge in business operations and entrepreneurship. I maximized my schedule, completing my junior and senior years by 10 a.m., freeing my afternoons to apply these skills by launching my first business.
Starting with a modest car audio and accessories shop, I was driven by a keen eye for aesthetics and functionality. Recognizing that standard subwoofer enclosures were bulky and unappealing, I began crafting custom enclosures and dress panels that blended seamlessly with vehicle interiors, enhancing both appearance and space efficiency. My expertise soon expanded to working with advanced materials like fiberglass, carbon fiber, plastics, metals, fabrics, and leathers, while my knowledge of engineering and electrical systems allowed me to create innovative automotive solutions that set new standards. This garnered recognition from major manufacturers and OEMs, and my work was featured in car shows, trade shows, magazines, and TV programs.
In 2008, I relocated to Austin, Texas, where I accepted a management position with the state’s largest car audio retailer. Within six months, I was offered a Regional Manager role, which I ultimately declined to explore other career paths. This led to various roles, including car sales and custom furniture manufacturing, before I accepted a position as Automotive Regional Product Manager with ZEP Chemicals. There, I managed an 11-state territory, supported over 100 salespeople, and handled an annual sales portfolio exceeding $25 million. My role involved product demonstrations, sales training, customer engagement, and representing ZEP at trade shows.
During this time, I also gained experience in web development and digital marketing, skills I applied across all my business ventures. I launched a small online business selling firearm parts, dedicating nights, weekends, and travel downtime to growing the brand. When ZEP was sold and my role was dissolved, I transitioned to running the firearms business full-time, obtaining a Federal Firearms License and manufacturing AR-15 rifles. My products were approved for duty use and showcased at gun shows, trade shows, and range demonstrations. After years of dedication, I sold the business to focus on my family.
We built a new home, and with encouragement and support from my loving wife, I pursued a long-held dream of becoming a pilot, earning my license and enjoying family trips. As we settled in, I took on house projects and renovations, eventually leading to a new interior design and construction company. Demand grew quickly, and I found myself handling increasingly complex projects like full-room remodels, furniture and decor sales, fireplace construction, masonry, plumbing, and electrical work.
Reflecting on my journey, I see that my drive to tackle diverse projects stems from a deep-seated passion for creating, problem-solving, and continually learning. With a strong foundation in business management, web development, and marketing, I am now eager to leverage my extensive experience, innovative mindset, and proven track record to explore new opportunities and collaborations.
In 2010, I starred in a Toyota marketing campaign where three teams competed to build the best car within a specific budget, facing various conditions and challenges along the way. My team and I successfully won the competition. Here is a time-lapse video showcasing our 30-day build process.
